PERTH-<\/strong> Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and concerns over potential threats to Israel, Australian flag carrier Qantas (QF)<\/a> has altered its direct flights from Perth (PER) <\/a>to London Heathrow Airport (LHR)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spokesperson for Qantas confirmed that flight QF9<\/strong>, which typically flies directly from Perth to London, will now be diverted via Singapore (SIN)<\/a> for refueling due to the adjusted flight path. However, the return flight, QF10<\/strong>, can still carry sufficient fuel to bypass Iranian airspace and continue its direct route from London to Perth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas Alters Perth to London Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The diversion occurred following a U.S. alert issued subsequent to an attack on Iran\u2019s embassy in Syria<\/a>, allegedly conducted by the Israelis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Reuters, an Iranian news agency initially published an Arabic report on the social media platform X, stating that all airspace over Tehran had been closed for military drills. However, the agency later removed the report and denied issuing such news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas assured passengers that they would remain on the same Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft<\/a> and continue their journey from Singapore to London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re making temporary adjustments to the flight paths for our Perth-London flights in response to the situation in certain parts of the Middle East,” stated a spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We will contact customers directly if there are any changes to their bookings.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight Cancellations to Tehran<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qantas clarified that only the Perth-London route is impacted by the situation in Iran, while the Singapore-London route follows a separate flight path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

European airlines Lufthansa (LH)<\/a> and Austrian Airlines (OS) have canceled services to Tehran, the capital of Iran. Meanwhile, Middle Eastern airlines and Qantas partners Emirates (EK) <\/a>and Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a> both traverse Iranian airspace on routes to North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz warned that any Iranian attack on Israel would prompt retaliation, possibly in response to Khamenei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
