MANCHESTER-<\/strong> Ryanair (FR)<\/a> aircraft experienced significant swaying amidst powerful winds at Manchester Airport (MAN)<\/a>, ultimately making contact with the ground using only one wheel before executing an aborted landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 9, 2024, the United Kingdom faced severe winds, leading to numerous aircraft encountering challenges while attempting to land at Manchester Airport. Several planes were captured on video making multiple landing attempts, while an easyJet (U2)<\/a> flight was compelled to divert its course to Liverpool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryanair One Wheel Landing Attempt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Manchester experienced wind gusts reaching speeds of 50mph near the airport on Tuesday, following the recent impact of Storm Kathleen across the UK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area encountered bouts of heavy rainfall persisting throughout the afternoon, accompanied by strong winds that caused trees to fall onto roads and tram lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AviationUpClose <\/em>documented eight instances of go-arounds within a span of six hours, predominantly attributed to windshear and a few unstable approaches. EasyJet communicated to passengers that the ‘adverse conditions’ fell ‘below safe operating thresholds.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday afternoon, an EasyJet flight originally bound from Amsterdam (AMS)<\/a> to Manchester was compelled to divert to Liverpool (LPL) due to the intense winds, according to an airline update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This results from adverse weather conditions in Manchester, which are deemed below safe operational thresholds. The flight disruption is beyond our control and is classified as an exceptional circumstance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The easyJet flight exhibited noticeable swaying from side to side during its approach to the runway, ultimately ascending again and diverting to Liverpool John Lennon Airport nearby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
