DUBAI-<\/strong> A flydubai (FZ)<\/a> flight destined for Doha (DOH) had to return to Dubai (DXB)<\/a> due to a “technical issue” experienced onboard the Boeing 737 Max aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred on Sunday, prompting the passenger jet to return to Dubai approximately 25 minutes after take-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a spokesperson for the airline, “Flydubai flight FZ017 from Dubai International to Hamad International Airport on April 7 returned to Dubai due to a technical issue.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft safely landed, and all passengers and crew disembarked at the airport terminal as usual. Passengers were then accommodated on a different aircraft to resume their journey to Doha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our passengers’ travel schedules,” the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing has faced numerous significant challenges, including a nearly catastrophic incident in January when a fuselage panel detached from a Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines (AS) <\/a>during flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Federal Aviation Administration, airline clients, and the public have intensely scrutinised the company. This incident resulted in a significant shake-up of senior management at Boeing last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CEO Remarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ghaith Al Ghaith, the CEO of flydubai, expressed confidence that these changes in leadership would help address the company’s issues and enhance service delivery standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with The National last month, Mr Al Ghaith stated, “Flydubai remains in close collaboration with the aircraft manufacturer. We believe that Boeing will take all necessary steps to reinforce its plans to address current challenges.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the importance of unwavering transparency, assuming responsibility, and working closely with regulatory authorities to overcome these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flydubai, an airline operating exclusively with Boeing aircraft, concluded the previous year with a fleet of 84 planes. This fleet consisted of 29 next-generation Boeing 737-800s, 52 Boeing<\/a> 737 Max 8s, and three Boeing 737 Max 9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Dubai Airshow last year, flydubai made a substantial investment by placing an order worth $11 billion for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. These aircraft are scheduled for delivery starting in 2026, marking the airline’s first order for wide-body aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
