MASCOT-<\/strong> Qantas (QF) <\/a>unveiled its intention to introduce non-stop routes connecting the eastern coast of Australia <\/a>with Europe and New York<\/a>. During this announcement, the airline called OEMs to develop an aircraft capable of ultra-long-haul flights, aiming to transform Australian air travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative, dubbed Project Sunrise, pays homage to the airline’s legacy of enduring long-distance flights. The Airbus <\/a>A350-1000 was selected as the preferred aircraft, with an order of 12 units placed in May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas New Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Qantas sought a new in-flight engagement system for its program, ultimately selecting Astrova, the latest IFE solution from Panasonic Avionics<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Andy Masson, Vice President of Product Management at Panasonic Avionics, this decision stems from a longstanding partnership to pioneer innovative IFE solutions tailored to evolving passenger needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing the unique demands of ultra-long-haul routes, Qantas and Panasonic Avionics collaborated closely to develop a system that replicates the comforts of home, from top-tier picture quality to immersive audio and ample device charging capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astrova introduces cutting-edge features such as an industry-exclusive OLED 4K screen with HDR 10+, delivering unparalleled visual clarity with infinite contrast and true blacks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paired with high-fidelity multi-channel spatial audio and full cabin Bluetooth\u00ae connectivity, passengers can seamlessly connect their personal headphones for an immersive entertainment experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A standout feature of Astrova is its robust USB-C charging capability, offering up to 100 W of power for fast-charging mobile devices and laptops throughout the flight duration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, Astrova is designed to adapt and incorporate future technological advancements, ensuring airlines can maintain a competitive edge by continuously upgrading their systems to meet evolving passenger expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panasonic Avionics\u2019 latest in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution not only aids airline sustainability initiatives by minimizing material recycling requirements and maximizing system lifespan but also addresses the weight concerns of airlines, thereby diminishing fuel consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Astrova, with its significantly lighter weight compared to previous IFE systems, contributes to airlines’ efforts in fuel reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
