PUNE-<\/strong> GE Aerospace<\/a>, a manufacturer of aircraft engines for both commercial and military purposes, is set to invest over Rs 240 crore to expand and enhance its manufacturing plant located in Pune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in February 2015, this facility specializes in producing components for commercial jet engines, as stated by the aerospace giant in a recent announcement. The investment is slated to occur within the current calendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GE Aerospace Pune Facility <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The components manufactured at the Pune facility for commercial jet engines are then supplied to GE’s global factories, where they play a crucial role in the assembly of engines such as the G90, GEnx, and GE9X engines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the GE9X engine is the most powerful commercial jet engine globally and is designated to power the Boeing <\/a>777x widebody aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Pune facility also provides parts for manufacturing LEAP engines manufactured by CFM, a collaboration between GE and Safran. These engines are utilized in Boeing 737 MAX narrow-body aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This investment aids our expansion in the Indian aerospace sector, equipping us to meet the rising demands of our customers,” stated Amol Nagar, Managing Director at GE Aerospace’s Pune facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m thrilled to witness the growth of this site, which has already proven to be a significant contributor to our global aircraft engine component supply chain,” remarked Mike Kauffman, Vice President of Global Supply Chain at GE Aerospace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 700 engines, jointly produced by GE Aerospace and CFM, are currently powering major Indian airlines such as IndiGo (6E)<\/a> and Air India (AI)<\/a>. Additionally, the defense engines and systems are propelling India’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas Mk 1, helicopters, aircraft carriers, and frigates of the Indian Navy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its inception, the facility has provided specialized aerospace precision manufacturing process training to over 5,000 individuals, stated the aerospace corporation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
