BARBADOS-<\/strong> In commemoration of 70 years of serving Barbados (BGI)<\/a>, British Airways (BA)<\/a> has launched its 787-10 Dreamliner<\/a> service from both London\u2019s Gatwick (LGW)<\/a> and Heathrow (LHR)<\/a> airports for the inaugural time on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial two flights, commanded by Stephen Faulks and Rupert Weiss and accommodating over 260 passengers, landed after 3:00 p.m., while the subsequent flight arrived shortly before 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways 787-10 to Barbados<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill; Chairperson of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), Shelly Williams; Cheryl Carter, Director of BTMI in the UK; along with other ministry representatives and Ryan Forde, Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, were present at Grantley Adams International Airport to greet arriving passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Today marks a milestone for Barbados. The aircraft’s arrival represents more than increased airlift; it’s a testament to our strong partnership with British Airways. I’m optimistic about future achievements,” said Mr. Gooding-Edghill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He thanked the Barbados and British Airways teams for making this historic moment a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dreamliner Service to Barbados<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Minister Gooding-Edghill emphasized that while the ministry continues its efforts to boost airlift and attract more visitors to Barbados, it’s equally crucial for everyone in Barbados to ensure visitors have enjoyable and memorable stays. This, he noted, would encourage them to spread positive word-of-mouth about Barbados and return for future visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 787-10 Dreamliner service is part of BA\u2019s expanded services to Barbados for the 2023\/2024 winter season, extending into the first two weeks of April 2024. During this period, the airline will operate two daily flights to Barbados \u2013 one from London Heathrow and one from London Gatwick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BA describes the 787-10 Dreamliner as the newest and longest member of its super-efficient 787 family. It offers a blend of advanced technology, passenger comfort, and impressive efficiency for an exceptional flying experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbados is the only Caribbean island served by British Airways with this aircraft, representing one of the newest additions to its fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
