PHILADELPHIA- <\/strong>On Monday (April 1, 2024), an American Airlines (AA) <\/a>aircraft was maneuvering out of its parking position at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) <\/a>when it brushed against the side of another costly aircraft parked nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Airlines flight AA847 was slated to depart from Philadelphia International on Monday at 10:31. However, the need for a replacement aircraft following the incident didn’t take off until 14:52, as flight tracking data from Flightradar24 indicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Airlines Planes Collided<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On Monday morning, American Airlines flight 847, bound from Philadelphia International (PHL) to Charlotte (CLT)<\/a>, had completed boarding and was in the process of maneuvering away from its gate in preparation for takeoff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, during this process, one of its wings contacted another American Airlines aircraft parked at the adjacent gate. Visual evidence from news reports clearly shows damage along the fuselage of the stationary aircraft. Subsequently, passengers and crew disembarked from both planes, and both aircraft were taken out of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 2000-built Airbus<\/a> A320-200, registered as N123UW with MSN 01310, was deployed to operate the flight. It departed from PHL at 14:52 and arrived at Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) at 16:05, nearly four hours later than the initially scheduled arrival time of 12:25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Footage shown by news outlet 6abc<\/em><\/a> reveals that the aircraft involved in the incident was an American Airlines 2011 Airbus A321-200, registered as N543UW with MSN 04843.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This aircraft was scheduled to operate flight 1311 to Orlando, Florida, departing at 10:57 and arriving at Orlando at 13:46. However, it was delayed until 15:36 and eventually landed at 17:34. A 2012 Airbus A321-200 operated the service registered as N562UW with MSN 05332.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aircraft Grounded<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to Flightradar24 data, N543UW (the parked A321) arrived at Philadelphia from Southwest Florida International (RSW)<\/a> at 09:29 on Monday and remained on the ground at PHL with no further movements reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this early stage, specific details about the aircraft involved in the incident have not been disclosed but will be included in this post once confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and it appears that both the airport and American Airlines staff followed their protocols to minimize delays. Nevertheless, a four-hour delay is significant, especially for travelers who have planned a return flight on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
