GURUGRAM-<\/strong> The situation at Vistara Airlines (UK)<\/a> has escalated significantly today, resulting in the cancellation of numerous flights due to a shortage of pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources indicate that this shortage stems from pilot dissatisfaction with the terms of a new contract, particularly following the announcement of the airline’s merger with Air India (AI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vistara Shortage Of Pilot <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to a report by NDTV Profit, Vistara pilots have collectively requested sick leave, reacting to a proposed revised salary framework that the airline intended to enforce in preparation for its merger with Air India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an email reviewed by NDTV Profit, Vistara informed pilots that those who do not agree to the new pay structure would not be prioritized on the upgrade sequence list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, they would forfeit the one-time bonus promised to pilots. Vistara stated that such pilots would be considered uninterested in continuing with Air India and thus excluded from the transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following receipt of this email, numerous pilots called in sick, disrupting flight schedules, as per sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline, jointly owned by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SQ)<\/a>, acknowledged the disruptions, stating that their teams are actively working to stabilize the situation. A company spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to these disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While 50 flights were canceled and over 160 were delayed yesterday, approximately 38 flights were canceled this morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vistara is currently undergoing a merger with Air India following its privatization, with Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1 percent stake in the once state-controlled airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
