LOS ANGELES-<\/strong> On March 27, 2024, A Fiji Airways (FJ)<\/a> Airbus A350 aircraft slated for departure from Los Angeles (LAX)<\/a> to Fiji (NAN) was struck by another plane belonging to Asiana Airlines (OZ)<\/a> while on the ground at Los Angeles airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collision occurred between the Asiana Airlines plane and the elevator (a primary flight control surface that controls movement about the lateral axis of an aircraft) of the Fiji Airways aircraft, resulting in damage to both planes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We wish to assure our passengers that there were no guests or crew on board the aircraft during the incident,” Fiji Airways stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a result of this incident, we anticipate some delays to our services over the next few days. We assure affected guests that they will be promptly informed of any changes to their travel arrangements.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The specific Asiana aircraft involved in the incident is uncertain, as no flights operated by them were disrupted. However, following the collision, flight FJ811 <\/strong>from LAX to NAN was subsequently canceled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fiji Airways aircraft with registration code DQ-FAI remains grounded in Los Angeles nearly 5 days later. Based on visual evidence, it seems that the right horizontal stabilizer of the aircraft was affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is speculation on various aviation forums that the Asiana aircraft continued with its scheduled flight despite the collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official mentioned that an inquiry had been initiated, leading to the removal of both IndiGo pilots from active duty. Additionally, the ground staff will undergo questioning as part of the investigative procedure. Both aircraft involved were grounded to facilitate a comprehensive inspection<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo described the incident as a minor brush, noting that the aircraft bound for Darbhanga has been brought back to the bay for additional inspection. They mentioned that flight 6E 6152 from Kolkata experienced a delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Air India Express, the affected aircraft has returned to the bay and are coordinating with the DGCA and airport authorities for further proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
