AHMEDABAD-<\/strong> The mortal remains of a young individual, transported from Australia <\/a>to Ahmedabad (AMD) via an Air India (AI) <\/a>flight, were mistakenly delivered to another cargo claimant at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TOI <\/em>Sources familiar with the situation disclosed that a youth from Surendranagar had passed away in Australia, and his body was flown to Ahmedabad on an Air India passenger flight originating from Sydney, with a layover in Delhi (DEL)<\/a>, before reaching its final destination in Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Dead Body Blunder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The flight arrived in Ahmedabad early on Thursday, ahead of schedule. The family of the deceased youth had not been notified about the arrival of the flight carrying their son’s remains,” a source stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purported incident took place at the domestic terminal of SVPI airport. “Upon the family’s arrival to collect their son’s mortal remains, they discovered that the casket had been erroneously given to another cargo claimant,” a source at SVPI disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was only after the family arrived, several hours subsequent to the landing of the Air India flight in the city that the confusion was brought to attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was discovered that another claimant, arriving at the city airport for a piece of cargo <\/a>resembling the casket, was inadvertently given the casket. Sources indicated that the family was furious upon learning of the error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Once the ground handlers at SVPI airport became aware of the mistake, they promptly contacted the cargo claimant, who is associated with a company based in the city,” a source familiar with the situation stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body was subsequently returned to the airport and handed over to the family after completing the necessary procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frontier Flies a Woman without a Passport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the\u00a0New York Post<\/em>, a woman from New Jersey was accidentally flown to Jamaica by a Frontier Airlines<\/a> flight, despite not having a passport, instead of her intended destination of Jacksonville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident reportedly occurred because the woman inadvertently went to the wrong gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beverly Ellis-Hebard, a resident of Gloucester County, stated that she frequently flies to her second home in Jacksonville from Philadelphia. On November 6, she arrived at a gate labeled \u201cPHL to JAX\u201d for her flight. She said she chose Frontier Flights because she flies once every six weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beverly Ellis-Hebard, a resident of Gloucester County, requested to use the restroom before her November 6th flight from PHL to JAX on Frontier Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When she returned, the flight was almost fully boarded, and she was rushed onto the plane. After handing over her boarding pass to a gate agent. According to the New York Post, the gate agent confirmed Ellis-Hebard\u2019s identity and told her to board the plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After boarding the plane, the flight crew informed Ellis-Hebard that the Jacksonville flight had been switched to another gate. Further, the aircraft was bound for Jamaica instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spokesperson for Frontier Airlines expressed regret over the incident, saying that they apologize for the mistake and have taken steps to make amends. The airline provided the passenger with a refund and compensation. Further, they addressed the issue with airport personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
