SEOUL-<\/strong> Asiana Airlines (OZ)<\/a> marked the end of an era as it operated its final flight of the iconic Boeing 747,<\/a> known as the ‘Queen of the Skies,’ with a poignant landing at Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) in South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last flight of the Boeing 747-400 drew a crowd of passengers eager to experience the historic journey and bid farewell to the beloved aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asiana Retires Last 747<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flight, registered as HL7428, departed from Seoul on March 25, 2024, at 10:15 local time and touched down at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) at 11:30, receiving a ceremonial water salute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after 13:30, the Asiana Airlines’ ‘Queen of the Skies’ embarked on its final flight, touching down at ICN again one hour and 52 minutes later at 16:35.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On social media, a wave of sorrowful messages flooded in response to the Boeing 747-400 retirement, alongside numerous expressions of gratitude for its years of dedicated service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HL7428 became a part of the South Korean airline’s fleet in 1999, marking Asiana Airlines’ third addition to the 747 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goodbye to Queen of Skies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“Asiana wrote on its Instagram page in February 2024, “The last B747-400 passenger plane in Korea. Queen of the Sky Boeing 747 started its first operation in 1999. Getting ready to say goodbye after a long flight.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To commemorate the event, Asiana Airlines offered passengers a 30% discount on tickets for Boeing 747-400 flights throughout March 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presently, Lufthansa boasts the largest fleet of Boeing 747-400s, with eight aircraft still proudly bearing the ‘Queen of the Sky’ insignia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, other airlines, such as Atlas Air, Air Atlanta Europe, and Air China, continue to operate the Boeing 747-400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
