SYDNEY-<\/strong> Qantas (QF)<\/a> has disclosed the operational procedures of its specialised crew team dedicated to handling extreme weather occurrences, including those impacting Taylor Swift<\/strong> events. Known as QMet, the airline’s meteorologist unit is based at its Mascot headquarters, monitoring global weather phenomena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Daniel Dihen, leading the airline’s Integrated Operations Centre, their pivotal contribution significantly influences business decisions, spanning operations, staff scheduling, flight routes, and aircraft loading strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team’s efforts also shed light on sudden flight changes, delays, or cancellations.”Mistakes can incur significant costs, but safety remains our foremost priority at QMet,” emphasized meteorologist Jacobus Cronje in a statement to 9News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At 10 o’clock at night, I received a call from the team suggesting, ‘What about the A380 out of Melbourne tomorrow?'” he recalled.
“This allowed us to consolidate three 737s and accommodate many Swifties.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team operates 24\/7 and is presently monitoring a cyclone near Mozambique that might affect flights heading to South Africa.
“The meteorologists enable us to strategize our operations; they’re closely monitoring weather phenomena worldwide,” stated Dihen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
