LONDON-<\/strong> British Airways (BA)<\/a> has taken action to prevent one of its captains from piloting aircraft amid allegations that he concealed a history of anger management issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to reports, a whistleblower complained to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in January, alleging that instances of the pilot exhibiting sudden outbursts of anger had been expunged from his medical records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways Pilot Banned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following this complaint, the CAA, responsible for regulating air travel in the United Kingdom and issuing licenses to civilian pilots, instructed British Airways to ground the captain. At the same time, an investigation into the allegations is conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the individual in question has not been publicly named, he has been barred from flying aircraft pending the outcome of the investigation, although he has not yet faced formal suspension from the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An insider familiar with the matter informed The Sun<\/em>: “The prospect of a captain exhibiting sudden bursts of anger while responsible for passengers at 30,000 feet is highly concerning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“If the pilot indeed had a history of anger management issues documented in his medical records, it would have undoubtedly precluded him from flying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Manipulating medical records is a grave accusation and could potentially constitute criminal conduct, falling within the domain of fraudulently obtaining employment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Authorities had no alternative but to suspend the pilot while an investigation was underway.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the First Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This isn’t the first instance in which British Airways has faced scrutiny over the conduct of its employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September last year, an airline pilot was dismissed from his position after boasting to colleagues about using cocaine off the body of a partially unclothed woman just before he was scheduled to return to the UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Beaton, hailing from Devon, purportedly communicated in text messages to a flight attendant, who was set to work on the flight, that he was so intoxicated he couldn’t even raise his head after a night of revelry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
