FRANKFURT-<\/strong> Lufthansa Cargo (LH) <\/a>customers now have the option to reserve cargo space on a Boeing 777F<\/a> for direct flights from Brussels International Airport (BRU) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commencing on April 3, 2024, this flight connection is scheduled twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Wednesdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lufthansa Brussels to Chicago Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The entire route will traverse from Frankfurt (FRA) <\/a>through Brussels to Chicago <\/a>and then back to the main hub in Frankfurt. This marks the first instance of the carrier establishing a direct air link between Belgium and the American continent using a cargo aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, anticipates that customers will book this new route immediately. Highlighting Brussels Airport’s significance, especially in the pharmaceutical sector, Bhat notes that the new connection enhances the network’s attractiveness, providing a direct link for time-sensitive freight. This development adds up to a total of 34 freighter connections from Europe <\/a>to North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognized as the premier European gateway for pharmaceuticals, Brussels Airport boasts the largest expanse of pharmaceutical warehouses in Europe and continues investing in revamping its cargo zone. The cargo community at Brussels Airport specializes in handling time- and temperature-sensitive goods and is the first globally to obtain the CEIV Pharma certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport’s cargo department strongly emphasizes the transportation of pharmaceuticals, with a closed cold chain from warehouse to aircraft facilitated by innovative Airside Pharma Transporters. Leveraging digitization ensures a transparent and expeditious process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport, expresses satisfaction in welcoming Lufthansa Cargo to the airport community and supporting their cargo operations to and from Brussels Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasizing a shared commitment to reliable and efficient pharmaceutical transport and a joint ambition for sustainability, Feist notes Lufthansa Cargo’s importance as an asset to the cargo network. He highlights their pioneering technologies, such as sharkskin technology, and investments in Sustainable Aviation Fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong Worldwide Network<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Consequently, the carrier’s global 777F network is set to encompass 82 weekly connections worldwide at the commencement of the summer flight schedule on March 31, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This includes 34 weekly connections from Europe to North America, four connections to South America, 42 direct connections from Europe to Asia, and two freighter flights weekly from Europe to the Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A321F <\/a>fleet further enhances the short and medium-haul network by serving up to 18 destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this, utilizing the belly capacities of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, and SunExpress, the cargo expert can provide its customers with a comprehensive global network offering up to 7,000 flights per week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
