FLORIDA-<\/strong> Shortly after stepping down as the CEO of Global Crossing Airlines (G6)<\/a>, Ed Wegel announced his intention to establish a new airline named Air Flo focused on operating Airbus A220s.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wegel suggests that the emphasis will be on the “Air Florida narrowbody route network.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Flo Airline Eyes A220 Fleet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air Florida, a budget carrier based in Miami<\/a>, initially concentrated on internal Florida routes before expanding to broader domestic and international services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline operated various aircraft, including single-aisle Boeing <\/a>planes and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10, until it ceased operations in the mid-1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wegel asserts that the plan for Air Flo has been developed by the aviation finance firm Avi8 Air Capital, a company he founded and currently heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tailwinds Aviation, under the leadership of former Avi8 and AWAS executive Ray Sisson, is overseeing aircraft acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding Secured<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wegel asserts that a “seed round secured” and mentions the involvement of a “major aviation-focused investment bank” retained for a significant fundraising effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although specifics about the route network and fleet composition are limited, he lauds the A220 as the “finest narrowbody aircraft ever constructed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has confirmed the selection of the aviation design studio Lift Aero Design to collaborate on Air Flo’s livery, brand, and cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very happy to announce that LIFT Aero Design<\/a> has been selected to design the brand and cabin for AirFlo, a new US airline planning to operate Airbus<\/a> A220s.
