MUMBAI-<\/strong> The national carrier of Rwanda, RwandAir (WB), is set to suspend all flights to and from Mumbai (BOM)<\/a> from March 15, aligning with its ongoing service improvement strategy, according to an official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the official website, the East African carrier operates Kigali (KGL) to Mumbai flights with a fuel stop in Mombasa (MBA), Kenya<\/a>. Further, the airline operates 2x weekly flights connecting two cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RwandAir Suspends Mumbai Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the decision to suspend flights to one of India’s most populous cities, RwandAir’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Andrew Best Owie, explained to The New Times, “RwandAir initiated this route seven years ago and has consistently sought new ways to enhance its service delivery on this route.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further added, “Therefore, the decision to temporarily suspend operations is driven by the need to identify and deploy the most suitable product to cater to our valued passengers on this route. The current limitation of operating a non-stop flight to India poses a significant challenge that the airline aims to address soon by introducing the appropriate product.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the potential impact on RwandAir’s business and the strategy to manage such consequences, he stated that the airline consistently evaluates its routes “to ensure we are optimizing our network in line with customer demand.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further emphasized, “Therefore, we have the right network optimization strategy in place. Hence, you can be assured that this has no wider effect on our operations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, they have less demand from India, and instead of flying empty planes, they want to utilize them on high-density routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

20+ Destinations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

RwandAir operates flights to over 20 cities across Western, Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa, as well as the Middle East, Asia, and Europe, as per information provided by the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within Africa, RwandAir serves destinations including Abuja, Accra, Bangui, Brazzaville, Bujumbura, Cape Town, Cotonou, Dar es Salaam, Douala, Entebbe, Harare, Johannesburg, Kilimanjaro, Lagos, Libreville, Lusaka, and Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline’s European <\/a>destinations encompass Brussels, London, and Paris, while its Asian routes include Dubai, Guangzhou, and Mumbai (to be suspended from March 15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Planespotters.net, the airline has a fleet of 14 aircraft, including A330s, Boeing 737s, and other small and medium-sized aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
