DELHI-<\/strong> Today (Feb 27, 2024), a bomb threat<\/a> call was reported at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi<\/a>. Following an investigation, it was determined to be a false alarm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The call, received around 5:15 am, specifically mentioned a flight from Delhi (DEL) to Kolkata (CCU)<\/a> scheduled to depart from IGI airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities implemented standard procedures, and after a thorough inquiry, it was confirmed that the call was a hoax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“An investigation has been initiated, and a case is in the process of being registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” stated an officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth noting that this incident follows a similar threat call received by Delhi Airport in the last week of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During that instance, Delhi’s IGI Airport was put on high alert due to a bomb threat targeting a flight from Darbhanga to Delhi on January 24. However, the subsequent investigation confirmed that the threat was unfounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 5:50 pm, a full emergency was declared at IGI Airport in response to a bomb threat call related to a SpiceJet (SG)<\/a> flight originating from Darbhanga and bound for Delhi. The flight landed at the airport at 6:04 pm, and passengers were safely disembarked. Subsequently, the aircraft underwent thorough screening in an isolated bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the investigation, it was confirmed that the bomb threat call was a false alarm. Despite the hoax, all essential safety protocols were diligently followed to ensure the security and well-being of the passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 20-year-old individual, identified as Kushagra Aggarwal from Janakpuri, west Delhi, was arrested and detained. The arrest was made in connection with allegedly making a false bomb threat at Delhi airport with the intention of seeking “publicity.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
