SRINAGAR-<\/strong> On Friday evening (Feb 23, 2024), a Tata-owned Indian FSC Vistara Airlines (UK)<\/a> Airbus A320neo, registered as VT-TYF and operating flight as UK612 <\/strong>from Jammu (IXJ) to Srinagar (SXR), experienced a bird strike<\/a> during its approach to Srinagar’s runway 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the impact, the flight crew proceeded to make a safe landing at SXR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vistara Bird Strike at Srinagar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

However, the aircraft couldn’t proceed with its scheduled itinerary due to the incident. Consequently, the following sector to Delhi (DEL) was delayed by approximately 6 hours, reported Aviation Herald<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of now, the affected aircraft remains grounded in Srinagar, with about 50 hours elapsed since its landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To fulfill the disrupted schedule, a replacement A320neo <\/a>with registration VT-TYG was dispatched to Srinagar. This replacement aircraft successfully carried out the onward sector from Srinagar to Delhi, ultimately arriving in Delhi with a delay of around 6 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Dec 4, 2023, an American Airlines (AA)<\/a> flight from Paris (CDG) <\/a>to Philadelphia (PHL) suffered a bird strike at 5,000 feet during takeoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to FR24, the American Airlines flight AA755 <\/strong>took off from Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in Paris at around 12:42 PM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately after takeoff, the flight was hit by a bird, and the crew decided to make an emergency landing back in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing the checklists, the American flight crew decided to return to Paris. They ascended the Dreamliner to FL100 to discharge fuel and safely landed on runway 09R in Paris approximately 55 minutes after departure at around 1:37 PM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maintenance staff at Paris evaluated the extent of the damage. After certifying the aircraft to fly, the flight took off again after two hours and landed safely in Philadelphia eight hours later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
