SYDNEY-<\/strong> Due to the anticipated severe storms affecting the Sydney (SYD)<\/a> region later today, Airservices Australia has imposed restrictions on the number of arrivals and departures for all airlines, resulting in several cancellations and delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qantas (QF) <\/a>has minimized disruptions by deploying an Airbus A380<\/a> on the Melbourne (MEL) to Sydney route to transport customers as close to their scheduled arrival as possible. The A380 accommodate 485 customers, equivalent to almost three Boeing 737 <\/a>flights that typically operate on this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially booked on three separate flights from 4 pm onwards, the affected customers will unlikely attend tonight’s Taylor Swift concert in Sydney. Additionally, a fourth flight has been canceled, with passengers rebooked on alternative Qantas services throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A380 utilized for this operation is an operational spare held in reserve to ensure operational resilience in the Qantas fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is typically designated for support in the international network, such as flights to London <\/a>and LA, the current high demand in Sydney has prompted its deployment to bolster domestic operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

QF operations teams, both domestically and internationally, have successfully worked to swiftly devise a solution, ensuring that customers can reach Sydney today despite the anticipated severe weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight QF7168 departs from Melbourne International Terminal 2 at 5:00 pm (Delayed by 2 hours) and arrives at Sydney International Terminal at 6:40 pm (Actual arrival time 8:25 Pm).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have proactively contacted all impacted customers to inform them about their revised flight details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
