SINGAPORE-<\/strong> Over a decade ago, Royal Brunei Airlines (BI) became the first Southeast Asian carrier to introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the recent finalization of the 787-9 order in February, which will be documented on Boeing’s <\/a>Orders & Deliveries, the airline is poised to transport more passengers and cargo over longer distances, all while achieving enhanced operational efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Brunei Orders 787<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, remarked, “By reaffirming its commitment to the 787 Dreamliner, Royal Brunei Airlines will persist in bridging Brunei with the world, upholding the carrier’s distinctive service and comfort for passengers. The 787-9 will provide the flexibility, efficiency, and range essential for Royal Brunei Airlines to pursue expanded opportunities in air travel and tourism.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Brunei Airlines presently operates five 787-8s, serving various destinations in Asia, Australia<\/a>, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the introduction of the 787-9, capable of accommodating nearly 20% more passengers than the 787-8 and covering a distance of 14,010 km (7,565 nautical miles), the airline aims to meet its growing capacity requirements on both medium- and long-haul routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boeing’s 2023 Commercial Market Outlook anticipates a 6.9% annual fleet growth in Southeast Asia, with the delivery of nearly 4,300 airplanes over the next two decades. Royal Brunei Airlines’ recent order for the 787 underscores the escalating demand for widebody aircraft in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 787 family boasts enhanced comfort features, including more humidified air and lower cabin altitude pressure, along with turbulence-countering technology. Additionally, the 787 Dreamliner family contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25% compared to its predecessors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
