DELHI-<\/strong> On November 17, 2023, the IndiGo Airlines (6E)<\/a> A321 aircraft with registration VT-IUO, designated for flight 6E2113 from Delhi (DEL)<\/a> to Hyderabad (HYD), and the A320 aircraft with registration VT-ISO, designated for flight 6E2206 from Delhi to Raipur (RPR), were scheduled for operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both aircraft came closer than the minimum vertical separation at Delhi Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo Potential Mid-Air Collison at Delhi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Flight IGO 2113 was cleared for departure with SID AKRIB 6A from Runway 27 at 0630 UTC. It departed at 0701 UTC and established contact with APAD, which cleared it to climb to FL80. However, at 070140, IGO 2113 was observed making a left turn toward the takeoff path of Runway 29R instead of following SID AKRIB 6A. Simultaneously, IGO 2206 received clearance and departed from Runway 29R, following SID ITBAN 6C and climbing to 4000 feet. IGO 2206 contacted APAD, and the controller instructed it to climb to 4000 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this sequence, a breach of separation occurred between IGO 2113 and IGO 2206, resulting in a Current Conflict alert triggered at 070143 UTC. Both IGO 2113 and IGO 2206 received TCAS-RA (Traffic Collision Avoidance System – Resolution Advisory).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the moment of the nearest vertical separation (400 feet), the lateral separation was 1.2 nautical miles. Simultaneously, at the point of closest lateral separation (0.2 nautical miles), the vertical separation was 800 feet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the occupants of both aircraft, and no damage occurred. The incident is under investigation by the AAIB team and is headed by Anandan P, Assistant Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
