SINGAPORE-<\/strong> During the Singapore Airshow 2024<\/a>, scheduled from February 20 to February 22, Airbus’ A350-1000 aircraft <\/a>will showcase the utilization of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) <\/a>in its flying displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supplied by Shell Aviation, the fuel consists of a 35 percent blend, incorporating used cooking oil and tallow (animal fats), with the remaining composition being conventional jet fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus A350 SAF Flights in Singapore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As part of a media showcase, the wide-body aircraft underwent refueling with approximately 12.8 tonnes of blended SAF at Changi Airport (SIN)<\/a> on February 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is considered a more environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels, boasting an average 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions from production to end-use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus, in a statement on February 18, highlighted that all its aircraft are currently capable of operating with up to 50 percent SAF, which is the current maximum allowable ratio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a major supplier of commercial aircraft to prominent operators such as Singapore Airlines (SQ), Qatar Airways (QR)<\/a>, and Cathay Pacific (CX)<\/a>, Airbus has set a target for its aircraft to be capable of operating with up to 100 percent SAF by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a demonstration of its commitment to decarbonization, an Airbus plane undertook a journey from its headquarters facility in Toulouse, France, to Singapore, utilizing 90 tonnes of fuel blended with SAF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company is considering the procurement of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for the return flight of the aircraft to Toulouse following the air show, contingent upon its availability, as stated by an Airbus spokeswoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Singapore Airshow 2024, Airbus asserts its position as one of the largest exhibitors, presenting a comprehensive display featuring its complete range of products and services spanning the commercial aircraft, helicopter, defense, and space markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notable highlights include the exhibition of an A330neo <\/a>wide-body aircraft, an A400M military airlifter, a H145M full-scale mock-up, and an exclusive ACH130 Aston Martin helicopter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees will have the opportunity for a close inspection of the Republic of Singapore Air Force\u2019s H225M medium-lift helicopter and the A330 multi-role tanker transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
