LONDON-<\/strong> Starting from June 1st, the national carrier, Air China (CA)<\/a>, will initiate daily flights from London Gatwick (LGW)<\/a> to Beijing Capital Airport (PEK), utilizing A330-300 aircraft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, on June 20th, China Southern Airlines (CZ)<\/a> will commence its three-per-week service to Guangzhou, employing Boeing 787-8 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chinese Airlines London Gatwick Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With these new additions, London Gatwick’s weekly services to China <\/a>will reach 26, complementing existing flights to Shanghai (operated by China Eastern and Air China) and Zhengzhou (operated by China Southern). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The combined offerings, including services by Air India (AI)<\/a>, Emirates (EK)<\/a>, Saudia (SV), Qatar Airways (QR), Singapore Airlines (SQ), and Azerbaijan Airlines (J2) to Baku, will result in a total of 85 flights per week heading to Asia from London Gatwick this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These additional routes are expected to not only facilitate passenger travel but also enhance regional and national trade prospects. In 2023, the UK recorded a notable increase of 11.9%, amounting to \u00a337.5 billion, in exports of goods and services to China compared to 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the flights are anticipated to provide a significant economic boost to the tourism industry in London and the South East. According to Visit Britain, Chinese visitors spent \u00a31,937 per UK visit, totaling \u00a31.71 billion in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephanie Wear, VP Aviation Development at London Gatwick, expressed enthusiasm about the new China services, emphasizing the positive impact on both passengers and businesses in London and the South East. These additions are anticipated to create more opportunities for tourism and trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the commitment of Air China and China Southern to growth at London Gatwick, Wear mentioned that the airport is pleased to foster positive relationships with China’s three largest airlines, including China Eastern. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anticipating the launch of these new services, she stated the airport’s eagerness to expand its long-haul offerings in key markets like Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its long-term vision, London Gatwick is making strategic investments, including the recent acceptance of a planning application for the regular use of the Northern Runway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This low-impact plan aims to enhance resilience, minimize delays, and contribute significantly to the national and regional economy by supporting trade, tourism, and the creation of new jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
