DELHI-<\/strong> Given the A320 family’s<\/a> significant popularity in the Indian market and the fact that Delhi (DEL)<\/a> has become the world’s busiest A320 airport, Airbus has come a long way since introducing A300 twin-aisle aircraft to India nearly 50 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, Airbus has signed progressive manufacturing and production deals with Indian companies to strengthen further its presence in the world’s third-largest aviation market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delhi: World’s Busiest Airport for A320<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Airbus initiated its relationship with India around fifty years ago by delivering the first Airbus A300 twin-aisle aircraft to the then-Indian Airlines, now known as Air India (AI)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, Airbus has established a proud and prominent presence in the Indian aviation landscape, representing a significant portion of the operational fleet, with approximately 500 aircraft yet to be delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the discerning Indian market, the A320 Family has emerged as the preferred airliner, notably making Delhi the world’s busiest A320 airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Airbus recently unveiled a groundbreaking agreement with Air India, encompassing the acquisition of 40 next-generation A350 aircraft. These aircraft possess the range and payload capability to undertake non-stop flights from India deep into the United States<\/a>, providing unparalleled comfort for passengers, superior efficiency, and the most favorable economics for the airline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A350 <\/a>is poised to become the unrivaled flagship for Indian aviation, fostering closer connections between India and the rest of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latest Updates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Feb 12, 2024, the Quality Management System (QMS) for the C295 aircraft by Airbus Defence and Space was granted approval by the Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA), the regulatory authority in India<\/a>. This approval allows for the production of detailed parts and sub-assemblies for the C295 in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same month, on Feb 8, 2024, in a substantial boost to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Airbus granted a contract to Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies for the manufacturing and assembly of doors for its A220 Family aircraft. This contract stands as one of the most substantial aerospace export agreements to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last month, on Jan 26, 2024, during President Macron’s India visit, Airbus Helicopters revealed a collaboration with the Tata Group to set up a Final Assembly Line (FAL) for helicopters in India. This facility will be responsible for the production of Airbus’ popular H125 helicopter from its civil range, catering to the Indian market and facilitating exports to neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Jan 19, 2024, Airbus entered into an HCare Initial contract, an all-encompassing by-the-hour services agreement, with Heligo Charter Private Limited for six Airbus H145 helicopters utilized in offshore and onshore operations in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Wings India 2024 in Hyderabad, Airbus entered into agreements with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Mahindra Aerospace Structures Private Limited (MASPL) for the acquisition of commercial aircraft components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Airbus signed deals with Indamer, HAL, and various local suppliers to manufacture and maintain its aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
