ABU DHABI-<\/strong> Etihad Airways (EY)<\/a>, the flagship carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)<\/a>, has reached a significant achievement in pilot training and flight operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having successfully secured stringent regulatory approvals and completing comprehensive pilot training, Etihad has obtained the certification allowing its pilots to seamlessly switch between operating both Airbus A350<\/a> and A380 aircraft<\/a>. This accomplishment establishes Etihad as one of the leading global airlines to achieve such adaptability in its pilot capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etihad Pilots Can Fly A350 and A380<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally, airline pilots are confined to flying a single type of aircraft. However, certain conditions, such as a high level of similarity in the flight deck and pilot procedures, along with the implementation of specialized training, may permit pilots to operate two similar aircraft types through an approved program known as ‘Mixed Fleet Flying’ or ‘MFF,’ sanctioned by both the aircraft manufacturer and the Civil Aviation Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mohammad Al Bulooki, the Chief Operating Officer at Etihad Airways, expressed, “Etihad Airways takes pride in being among the pioneering airlines to certify its pilots for operating both the Airbus A350 and A380.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last decade, Etihad has secured similar approvals, allowing its Airbus pilots to seamlessly transition between the A320 and A330 types, A330 and A340 types, and its Boeing <\/a>pilots to operate the 777 and 787 types, establishing new benchmarks for fleet commonality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on this successful track record, the recent approval for pilots to fly both the Airbus A350 and A380 will further elevate the efficiency and flexibility of Etihad’s widebody network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
