DELHI-<\/strong> Airbus<\/a>, the global aerospace market leader, has forged a partnership with Indian company Dynamatic Technologies to produce A220 <\/a>doors in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the agreement details, Dynamatic Technologies will be responsible for manufacturing all door variants for the next-generation Airbus A220.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a press conference, the French aviation giant highlighted that this collaboration represents the most substantial contract of its kind in India. Dynamatic Technologies will have comprehensive responsibility for the complete manufacturing of the doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The location of this facility will be determined through a joint decision between the Indian company and Airbus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financial specifics of the collaborative agreement are yet to be disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the second occasion within a year in which Airbus has entrusted an Indian supplier with a doors contract. In 2023, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. secured the contract for producing bulk and cargo doors for the A320 Family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dynamatic, an enduring partner of Airbus, already manufactures the Flap Track Beam for Airbus A330 and A320 Family aircraft, in addition to the cockpit escape hatch door for the A220. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

India is a strategic resource hub for Airbus, involving aircraft assembly, component manufacturing, engineering design and development, MRO support, pilot and maintenance training, and academic collaboration to nurture human capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Executive Officer, Udayant Malhoutra, announced that the company would supply the initial set of doors to Airbus in the early part of the upcoming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, on Thursday, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced a new procurement agreement between Airbus and Air India. This announcement followed Scindia’s meeting with Airbus Global CEO Guillaume Faury on January 26, where they explored collaboration opportunities for aircraft manufacturing and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scindia shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter),<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Had a meeting with Mr. Guillaume Faury, the Global CEO of Airbus, today, exploring additional prospects for collaboration in aircraft manufacturing and design. With India’s rapid economic growth and a focus on #MakeinIndia, the country holds immense potential to emerge as a global hub for aircraft manufacturing<\/em>.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

India stands as a crucial market for Airbus, receiving orders for over 700 planes from carriers like IndiGo (6E)<\/a> and Air India (AI)<\/a> last year. IndiGo, the largest airline in India, exclusively operates Airbus aircraft in its fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the “Wings India” event in Hyderabad last month, Remi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, expressed Airbus’s goal to double the overall procurement value from India to $1.5 billion in the coming years. This ambition aligns with the anticipation of capitalizing on the robust growth in the world’s fastest-growing aviation market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A220 Order from Indian Airlines Soon?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Maillard highlighted that India’s aviation industry is projected to require 2,840 aircraft by 2035<\/strong>. Additionally, the country is anticipated to need around 41,000 pilots and 47,000 technical staff in the next two decades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of these developments, Airbus aims to leverage the substantial demand in the world’s most populous nation, aiming to increase its sourcing from the current $750 million to $1.5 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent reports have indicated that Airbus Helicopters is set to collaborate with the Tata Group to establish a final assembly line for helicopters in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategic move is poised to contribute to the growth of indigenous manufacturing activities. Following the ‘Make in India’<\/strong> C295 military aircraft manufacturing facility in Gujarat, this upcoming final assembly line marks Airbus’s second major initiative in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus Helicopter FAL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In an official statement, Airbus Helicopters<\/a> revealed that the Final Assembly Line (FAL) will focus on producing Airbus H125 helicopters from its civil range for the Indian market, with the intention to export them to neighboring countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the inaugural establishment of a private sector entity initiating a helicopter manufacturing facility in India, as highlighted in the statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development is poised to significantly contribute to the ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anticipated to be constructed within the next 24 months, the Final Assembly Line is expected to commence deliveries of the first ‘Made in India’ H125 helicopters around 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Describing the collaboration between Airbus and Air India as a “historic day,” Scindia emphasized its role in promoting indigenous manufacturing, stimulating the economy, and generating diverse employment opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joint announcement by Air India and Airbus coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron’s two-day visit to India for the Republic Day celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this partnership, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a subsidiary of the Tata Group<\/a>, will collaborate with Airbus Helicopters to establish the facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Final Assembly Line in India is set to handle the integration of major component assemblies, avionics, and mission systems, encompassing tasks such as the installation of electrical harnesses, hydraulic circuits, flight controls, dynamic components, fuel systems, and engines, as outlined by Airbus Helicopters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
