LUCKNOW-<\/strong> Highlighting the swift progress in the aviation <\/a>sector, Uttar Pradesh is poised to be the first state in India with 21 airports, as mentioned by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday (Feb 7, 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the state, there has been continuous infrastructure development in land, water, and air sectors. Uttar Pradesh is on track to achieve the distinction of having 21 airports,” stated the Chief Minister in the state assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uttar Pradesh Airports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the past nine years, the aviation infrastructure in the state has experienced significant growth, according to Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who shared in January that Uttar Pradesh had only six airports in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presently, the state boasts ten airports, including the recently inaugurated one in Ayodhya (AYJ).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the coming month, Uttar Pradesh is set to add five more airports, with one in each of Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Chitrakoot. Additionally, an international airport in Jewar is expected to be operational by the end of 2024, as mentioned by Scindia in January 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noida Airport Ops in 2024<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the Budget 2024-25, the Uttar Pradesh government allocated Rs 1,150 crore for the forthcoming Noida International Airport (NIA)<\/a>. Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Suresh Kumar Khanna, announced, “A provision of Rs 1,150 crore is proposed for the establishment of an international airport and the purchase of land in Jewar of Gautam Buddha Nagar district.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial phase of the project will encompass the development of 230 acres, with 33% (75 acres) designated for commercial purposes and 67% (155 acres) for industrial use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commercial operations at the airport are anticipated to commence by the end of this year, likely in Q4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NIA Project Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. The Noida International Airport (NIA) is being developed in four phases and is set to become the largest airport in India upon completion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Once fully developed, which is estimated to be in the mid-2040s, the airport will cover an area of approximately 5,000 hectares, featuring multiple runways, two terminal buildings, and an annual passenger capacity of 1.2 crores.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. The airport will also include facilities for cargo services and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. It will serve as the third airport for commercial operations in the national capital region, alongside Delhi\u2019s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA)<\/a> and Ghaziabad\u2019s Hindon air base.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
