DELHI-<\/strong> Zooom Airlines (Z0)<\/a>, formerly known as Zoom Air, marked its return to the Indian aviation landscape on January 31 with its inaugural passenger flight from Delhi (DEL) to Ayodhya (AYJ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For services on the Delhi-Ayodhya route, the airline deploys Bombardier <\/a>CRJ 200ER aircraft. Ayodhya has gained prominence as one of the country’s highly sought-after spiritual tourism destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Return After More than 5 Years<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Having ceased operations in July 2018, the Gurugram-based airline successfully renewed its air operator certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) <\/a>on September 15, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zoom Air, originally established as Zexus Air in April 2013, received its first aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ200, and commenced operations in February 2017. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the airline struggled to attract significant air passenger traffic, leading to the suspension of its air operator certificate by the DGCA for over a year in July 2018 due to safety concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a restart of services in October 2019, the airline faced another suspension in March 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebranded with a new name, the airline is striving to establish a renewed brand identity and provide an improved flying experience for passengers, according to industry experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zooom Airlines Ayodhya Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zooom Airlines announced its relaunch with services connecting Ayodhya <\/a>and Delhi, expressing a commitment to enhancing regional connectivity in India. Atul Gambhir, Zooom’s Chief Executive Officer, stated in a press release that the new flight services aim to connect people, cultures, and regions to the spiritual hub of Ayodhya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further mentioned that the airline would continue to play a supportive role by endorsing the Government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN), planning to introduce additional services focused on the UDAN routes as part of its service relaunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gambhir stated, \u201cWe are also contemplating the exploration of new routes and expanding our network to encompass more tier-2 cities. This initiative will provide passengers with additional travel options, contributing further to the growth of the domestic aviation sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With plans to offer a “cost-effective” and “convenient” solution for regional travel needs, the airline aims to cater to the evolving demands of passengers in the expanding Indian aviation market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Presently, the Indian aviation market features two active private regional carriers, Fly Big (S9) <\/a>and Star Air (S5)<\/a>, holding a 0.2 percent and 0.3 percent share, respectively, in the domestic civil aviation market. There is also Alliance Air (9I), owned and operated by the government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
