UNITED KINGDOM<\/strong>– A legendary British Airways (BA)<\/a> Concorde engine, the Rolls Royce<\/a> Olympus Turbojet 593-610, is currently listed on the online auction platform eBay for sale at a price of \u00a3654,000. Measuring six meters in length and weighing three-and-a-half tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This remarkable piece of aviation history, adorned with the registration G-BFKW, was originally constructed in 1980 and previously powered one of British Airways’ supersonic jets. Due to its substantial size and weight, shipping may present some logistical challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it’s essential to note that this engine is designated for display purposes only, as it cannot be utilized on an airplane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially listed on the auction website for \u00a3678,000, the seller has recently reduced the price. While no bids have been placed so far, the engine has piqued the interest of four potential buyers eager to own a piece of aviation history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The auction listing emphasizes its inability to fly but highlights its suitability for dismantling and repurposing into collectible furniture or art. British Airways specifies a restriction on its use, permitting only static display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eBay listing showcases the iconic engine, which has undergone a price reduction. Notably, the engine’s history reveals a change in its association with an airplane, as it now resides in a museum in the United States. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the auction site details, the engine was originally fitted on wing No.3 position on Concorde reg G-BFKW number 214, later transitioning to G-BOAG and finding its place in the Museum of Flight in Seattle, US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement reveals that Concorde G-BFKW No. 214’s delivery flight occurred from BAe Filton to LHR on 06\/Feb\/1980, piloted by Captain B. O. Walpole. On the same day, the acceptance flight (flight 9) was conducted by Captain E. B. Trubshaw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the original Delivery Logbook, encompassing all sub-assemblies, features authentic signatures and stamps by the engineers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the engine has garnered some interest, its price has recently been reduced. The iconic Concorde, retired from service in 2003 following a fatal crash of an Air France Flight in July 2000, continues to captivate attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, reports surfaced about the unveiling of a next-generation airline, often referred to as the ‘Son of Concorde.’ Boom Supersonic’s Overture is anticipated to offer carbon-neutral flights from London to New York in just three and a half hours, reaching speeds of Mach 1.7 (1,300mph). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prototype, XB-1 Baby Boom, has achieved significant milestones in testing, and if all goes well, it is expected to be revealed in 2026.
