TOKYO-<\/strong> Airbus <\/a>expresses its deep regret to confirm that an A350-900, operated by Japan Airlines (JAL)<\/a> on flight JL516 from Sapporo New Chitose Airport (CTS) to Tokyo Haneda International Airport (HND)<\/a>, was involved in an accident shortly after 17:47 (local time) on January 2, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All 367 passengers and 12 crew members onboard successfully evacuated the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Airbus A350 Crash<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The A350 collided with a DHC-8 aircraft upon landing at Haneda. Japanese authorities have sadly confirmed that five out of the six individuals on board the DHC-8 did not survive. The precise circumstances of the event remain unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the accident, registered under the number JA13XJ<\/strong>, bears the manufacturer serial number (MSN) 538 and was delivered to Japan Airlines from the production line on November 10, 2021. It was equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adhering to the recommendations outlined in Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Airbus will extend technical support to the Bureau d\u2019Enqu\u00eates et d\u2019Analyses (BEA) in France and the Japan Transport Safety Board (JTSB), which is overseeing the investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To facilitate this, Airbus is currently deploying a team of specialists to assist the respective authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional information will be shared as soon as comprehensive details are gathered and Airbus is granted authorization to disclose them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
