TOKYO-<\/strong> A collision on the runway at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND) <\/a>between a Coast Guard aircraft and a Japan Airlines (JL)<\/a> Airbus A350 resulted in the death of five individuals <\/strong>aboard the Coast Guard plane, according to the country’s transport minister, Tetsuo Saito. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated, “Regarding the Coast Guard plane, we have been informed that the captain escaped and five people were confirmed dead,” based on information from the news agency AFP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simultaneously, all 379 passengers and crew on the Japan Airlines plane managed to escape the fire that broke out following the collision with the Coast Guard aircraft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Footage from public broadcaster NHK depicted the aircraft engulfed in flames while rescue teams worked to contain the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has directed relevant agencies to collaborate in promptly assessing the damage, as reported by his office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
