SAN FRANCISCO-<\/strong> San Francisco International Airport (SFO)<\/a> is currently grappling with a total of 109 delays and two cancellations affecting flights to and from the airport on Tuesday morning, as reported by FlightAware data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of 8:24 a.m., Southwest Airlines (WN)<\/a> had 36 delayed flights, United Airlines (UA)<\/a> experienced delays in 20 flights, Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> had 13 delayed flights, and JetBlue Airways (B6)<\/a> encountered delays in 11 flights at the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco Flight Delays<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Breaking down the delays by origin, flights arriving at SFO from Los Angeles and San Diego international airports faced eight and six delays, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, there were four delays each for arrivals from Burbank’s Bob Hope International, Boston’s Logan International Airport, John F. Kennedy International in New York City, and Harry Reid International in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other two major airports in the San Francisco Bay Area also experienced disruptions with delayed arrivals and departures for flights on Tuesday due to the ongoing rainstorm this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAA Traffic Management Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Federal Aviation Administration implemented a traffic management program for SFO early on Tuesday, anticipating delays of approximately 55 minutes for certain arriving flights due to low ceilings and wind conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A similar program on Monday around 2 p.m. resulted in average delays of approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Oakland International Airport (OAK), FlightAware reported eight delays and one cancellation, while San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) experienced 15 delays with no cancellations recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, forecasters did not anticipate significant delays for Bay Area travelers. National Weather Service meteorologist Brayden Murdock stated on Sunday to The Standard that “as far as air travel goes, we’re not seeing too much in the way of impactful rain just yet for our aviation sites.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murdock provided a cautionary note, stating, “morning, we might experience heavier rainfall, but it’s not expected to be prolonged with heavy rains. While this could cause some delays for flights arriving and departing from our airports, it won’t be an all-day occurrence, which is a positive aspect for our aviation community.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
