DALLAS-<\/strong> Southwest Airlines (WN)<\/a> has selected AvioBook to implement digital technology across its fleet, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and eliminate the need for printing 88 million pages of paper annually. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AvioBook’s electronic flight bag technology is already utilized by over 65 airlines<\/strong>, including major carriers like United<\/a>, Frontier, KLM, IndiGo<\/a>, and Wizz Air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southwest Electronic Flight Bag<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Southwest, the largest U.S. airline in terms of domestic passengers, is expected to deploy this technology by 2024 as part of its multi-year contract with AvioBook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform includes a fully integrated Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) and Electronic Logbook (eLB) solution, offering a comprehensive solution to enhance operational processes for Southwest’s pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Southwest is excited about the partnership with AvioBook to modernize our operations and introduce cutting-edge technology solutions that directly benefit our frontline employees,” said Steve Christl, Vice President of Operations, Strategy, and Implementation at Southwest Airlines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“These advancements not only streamline processes but also eliminate numerous paper-based documents. This shift empowers our employees to dedicate more time and focus on delivering Southwest Hospitality to our valued customers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AvioCast AID<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline has also entered into an agreement to equip its entire Boeing 737 NG <\/a>fleet with AvioBook’s Aircraft Interface Device (AID), known as AvioCast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This system will provide real-time aircraft data to various operational groups, helping to mitigate safety risks, enhance compliance, add technology redundancy and resiliency, and increase environmental sustainability, all while enabling shorter turn times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southwest Airlines considers this step one of many pioneering initiatives aimed at enhancing the travel experience for both customers and employees through the integration of digital technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AvioBook, with its presence on at least 4,000 aircraft and 100,000 flights per week, is set to assist Southwest in uniting stakeholders across the airline, enhancing communications, optimizing workflows, and eliminating the need for paper. AvioBook Chief Executive Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Dru expressed anticipation for the collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
