UTAH-<\/strong> Breeze Airways (MX)<\/a>, based in Salt Lake City, has submitted an application to the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA)<\/a> seeking flag carrier status\u2014a crucial initial step toward venturing into international operations, as disclosed by the airline’s founder and CEO, David Neeleman, in a statement to Reuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline has aspirations to launch transatlantic services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breeze Airways Europe Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flag carrier designation is a prerequisite for airlines to secure international traffic rights. While Neeleman did not provide a timeline for the regulatory process, a spokesperson mentioned that it is premature to discuss specific details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breeze Airways has long been contemplating its entry into the international market but has not yet revealed any specific routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline is considering entering leisure markets in the Caribbean and Central America and initiating transatlantic flights to destinations such as Ireland, utilizing the range capabilities of its A220-300 aircraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to data from the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, the airline’s current fleet includes ten E190s, seven E195s, and eighteen A220-300s, with an additional 62 A220-300s on order from the manufacturer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breeze Airways primarily focuses on serving underserved secondary markets in the United States and currently maintains operational bases at Charleston International, Hartford Bradley, New Orleans International, Norfolk International, VA, Providence, Provo, Tampa International, and White Plains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus 50th A220<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Airbus <\/a>successfully delivered its 50th A220 from the Final Assembly Line (FAL) site located in Mobile, Alabama, United States. The aircraft, registered as N224BZ, was received by Breeze Airways (MX) <\/a>on August 30, 2023, as reported by planespotters.net data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 2, 2023, Airbus in the US, a dedicated X (formerly Twitter) profile for the manufacturer\u2019s activities in the country, enthusiastically celebrated the milestone, stating: \u201cOur team in Mobile deserves a big WOO-HOO for achieving the delivery of the 50th #A220 from our U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to data from planespotters.net, Delta Air Lines proudly received the 51st A220 from the Mobile Final Assembly Line (FAL) on September 1, 2023. This aircraft is registered as N318DU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airbus commenced A220 assembly at its Alabama facility back in August 2019. The inaugural delivery of this aircraft type from the Mobile FAL took place in October 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Breeze Airways, Delta Air Lines, and JetBlue are the exclusive trio of US airlines operating the A220, it\u2019s worth noting that not every A220 in their fleets has been assembled in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JetBlue operates a lone A220 crafted at the Montreal FAL, identified as N3125J, which Airbus placed in the airline\u2019s hands in March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
