LONDON-<\/strong> A collision occurred between a vehicle and a British Airways (BA) <\/a>plane at Aberdeen Airport, causing delays for passengers. The incident involved BA flight 1305 destined for London Heathrow (LHR)<\/a>, originally scheduled to depart at 8:55 am on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engineers are currently examining the aircraft for any damage before allowing passengers to proceed with their departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways Hit by Vehicle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nicholas Harrison, who had plans to fly to Rome with a connection through Heathrow, shared with STV News<\/em>: “Something struck the underside of the plane when they were bringing something towards it. They seem to think it\u2019s a loading cart. The police came out and checked over the driver.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have been informed that our departure is on hold indefinitely due to uncertainty about the extent of the damage. The duration for potential repairs is unknown, and there is no confirmation if the issues can be resolved today.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In response, they have provided us with drink vouchers. Unfortunately, alternative flights for today are fully booked. Thankfully, our connecting flights are informed about the situation here, allowing us to make alternative arrangements.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Having flown extensively, I’ve never encountered a situation like this before.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy Snow Disrupted Operations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This development coincides with widespread travel disruptions across much of Scotland due to snow and ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday morning, Glasgow Airport temporarily halted all flights to facilitate runway clearance operations. Take-offs were able to resume shortly after 10:30 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft affected is an Airbus A320<\/a>, capable of accommodating up to 180 passengers, and it joined British Airways’ fleet just two years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A representative from British Airways expressed regret for the delay, stating, “We apologize to our customers for the delay, and our teams are working diligently to ensure everyone reaches their intended destinations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A spokesperson for AGS, the owners of Aberdeen Airport, confirmed an incident had occurred and stated that the airline is investigating the occurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
