GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Following social media criticism over a video depicting water dripping from the plane’s AC in the Gatwick-Amritsar flight, Air India (AI)<\/a> CEO Campbell Wilson addressed the issue in his weekly email to employees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He announced that the airline plans to feature two of its new planes at the Hyderabad WINGS festival in January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India A350 at WINGS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The WINGS India Aviation show is a bi-annual mega aviation event hosted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in collaboration with industry body FICCI, held in Hyderabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the two aircraft Air India plans to feature, one is a wide-body Airbus A350<\/a>, marking India’s inaugural presence of such an aircraft. The well-known Boeing 737 MAX<\/a> will be the second showcased plane, featuring Air India’s new branding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson further mentioned that the airline has received two additional narrow-body A320neos<\/a>, set to commence operations in December. Additionally, he noted the completion of the title transfer for the fourth A350, slated to join the fleet in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson’s recent announcement regarding new plane arrivals appears to respond to the frequent criticism of Air India for its aging and outdated in-flight services. It communicates the new management’s commitment to enhancing the quality of the passenger experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the airline has been expanding its international network, the use of its existing old fleet is necessitated, with the induction of new planes scheduled over the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite efforts to reshape its image as a world-class carrier, incidents like the one on the Gatwick-Amritsar flight may be counterproductive, contributing to the challenges faced in improving the airline’s perception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
