SAVANNAH- <\/strong>Gulfstream Aerospace<\/a> has reported the successful conclusion of the inaugural trans-Atlantic flight entirely powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Executed on November 19, the journey occurred aboard a Gulfstream G600 aircraft, departing from the company’s Savannah headquarters and arriving at Farnborough Airport in England after 6 hours and 56 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pratt & Whitney-Powered Mission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Propelled by Pratt & Whitney<\/a> PW815GA engines, each fueled exclusively by 100% SAF; this undertaking highlights the prospective utilization of renewable fuels in aviation’s future. These fuels offer reduced levels of carbon, sulfur, and aromatics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flight with Minimal Environmental Impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) <\/a>utilized in the flight was supplied by World Energy and distributed by World Fuel Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comprising 100% Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (neat HEFA), the fuel boasts a lifecycle CO2 emissions reduction of at least 70% compared to fossil-based jet fuel, contributing to mitigating aviation’s climate impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, this aromatics-free fuel diminishes local air quality and exceptionally low sulfur content, thereby minimizing non-CO2 environmental impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anthony Rossi, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Pratt & Whitney Canada, commended Gulfstream for pioneering in the sustainable aviation domain and completing the mission, emphasizing their collaboration to verify engine compatibility with unblended SAF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
