Gurugram-based carrier operates daily flights between Mumbai and New York with its Boeing 777 fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India flight AI119 took off from Mumbai (BOM) at around 8:49 PM UTC. After being airborne for over two hours, the flight decided to make a U-turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight was expected to arrive at JFK at around 6:55 local time but landed safely back in Mumbai at 1:30 AM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 777-200LR, registered as VT-AEI. According to planespotters.net<\/em>, the aircraft is 14.5 years old and was earlier operated by Delta Air Lines (DL).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per information from Air India, “AI1119 from Mumbai to JFK air-returned due to a minor technical issue and safely landed back at Mumbai for precautionary checks, prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers impacted by the diversion received assistance at the Mumbai airport. Air India is actively working to organize an alternative aircraft to resume the flight promptly, the source stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to airline insiders, “Passengers have been provided with hotel accommodation, alternative flight options, taxi fares, and served lunch, among other amenities, while awaiting the next available flight to their destination.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India (AI)<\/a> flight from Delhi (DEL)<\/a> to Paris (CDG)<\/a>, operated using Boeing 787<\/a>, made an emergency landing back at DEL due to tire debris found on the runway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Delhi Air Traffic Controller (ATC) noticed some kind of debris after the Air India flight took off from it. The aircraft took off from the newly inaugurated fourth runway<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the flight tracking site Flight Radar 24 data, the Air India flight AI143<\/strong> took off from DEL at 1:21 PM IST, after 25 minutes delay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after takeoff, the DEL ATC witnessed some sort of debris which they suspected to be from the tire. They immediately contacted the AI143 flight crew and were told to make a U-Turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight performed the standard emergency procedure and burnt the extra fuel required to reach CDG and safely land in DEL. The flight did this for around an hour and landed safely back at DEL at 2:28 PM IST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is Air India Boeing 787-8, registered as VT-NAA. According to Planespotters.net, it is a six-year-old carrier; AI took it back in 2017. Further, it is the penultimate 787 in the AI fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, the Air India Spokeperson told news agency ANI that \u201cthey are planning alternative arrangements for the passengers of AI143 to reach their destinations while the aircraft undergoes necessary checks at Delhi.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
