GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Indian airlines, including Air India (AI)<\/a>, IndiGo (6E)<\/a>, and others, are set to operate 23,732 weekly flights in the upcoming winter schedule, reflecting an increase of over 8% compared to the same period in the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This rise is in response to the growing demand for air travel. The winter schedule for 2023, effective from October 29 to March 30 next year, has received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a>, the aviation regulatory authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India IndiGo Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s important to note that Go First (G8)<\/a>, which temporarily halted its operations on May 3 and is currently undergoing insolvency resolution proceedings, will not be operating any flights during this winter schedule period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DGCA stated that the winter schedule of 2023 will encompass 23,732 weekly departures to\/from 118 airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the winter of 2022, there were 21,941 weekly flights originating from 106 airports, which represented an 8.16% increase in the number of flights compared to previous schedules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), out of the 118 airports included in the winter schedule for 2023, there are plans to introduce operations at nine new airports. These new airports are Bhatinda, Jaisalmer, Ludhiana, Nanded, Shivamogga, Salem, Utkela, Hindon, and Ziro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the summer schedule of 2023, there were 22,907 weekly departures from 110 airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comparatively, the winter schedule for 2023 will see a 3.60% increase in the count of weekly flights in comparison to these figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this year’s winter schedule, IndiGo will be responsible for the largest number of domestic flights, with a total of 13,119 flights each week. This represents a significant increase of 30.08%<\/strong> when compared to the same period from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India will also experience an increase, with 18.94%<\/strong> more weekly flights, totaling 2,367 in the latest winter schedule compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Carriers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express and AirAsia India, now AIX Connect, will jointly operate 1,940 weekly flights in this year’s winter schedule. It’s important to note that both of these airlines are currently in the process of being merged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vistara<\/a>, on the other hand, is set to operate 1,902 flights every week during the winter schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the upcoming winter schedule, the Air India Group, which includes Air India, Air India Express, AirAsia India, and Vistara, is set to operate a total of 6,209 weekly flights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DGCA approved this schedule following a slot conference meeting held in September, and the necessary slot clearances have been obtained from the respective airport operators via the eGCA portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
