GURUGRAM-<\/strong> Tata Owned Air India (AI)<\/a> has initiated a “peer support program” (PSP) designed to assist its pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)<\/a> issued a directive for all airlines to establish such programs to promote the mental well-being of their flight crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Peer Support for Pilots<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In his weekly update to Air India’s personnel, Campbell Wilson, the airline’s Managing Director & CEO, said, “Our PSP for pilots commenced this week, offering access to professionals and mental health experts for those in need, ensuring complete confidentiality. Simultaneously, we also introduced Buddy.AI, enabling pilots to connect with trained volunteers who share similar professional backgrounds and understand the challenges they face.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Campbell Wilson mentioned that Air India has recently become a member of the European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field of aviation psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized the importance of maintaining mental health for everyone, not just pilots, and encouraged seeking support when necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the commercial side, Wilson announced that Air India has partnered with Tata AIG General Insurance to offer travel insurance to its customers, providing coverage for various travel-related financial risks, including medical issues, travel disruptions, baggage problems, passport loss, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This service seamlessly integrates into their website’s booking process and contact centers to ensure a convenient experience for customers and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On-Track of Recovery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, Air India has expanded its fleet by receiving another Boeing 777-300ER<\/a>, featuring significant internal upgrades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This aircraft is set to operate between Mumbai and London Heathrow, and Air India is in the process of regularly adding new aircraft to its fleet, averaging one every six days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India has reinstated its on-campus recruitment efforts for the first time in many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Wilson, the airline initiated a program with a specific focus by issuing a challenge named “SOAR,” which invited teams to propose solutions to various business challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This challenge received an enthusiastic response, with the participation of 27 business schools and over 7,000 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
