KARACHI-<\/strong> On October 14th, an Air India Express (IX)<\/a> flight IX192<\/strong> bound for Amritsar (ATQ) from Dubai (DXB)<\/a> was diverted to Karachi (KHI) due to a sudden in-flight medical emergency, necessitating immediate medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The flight crew decided to divert to Karachi, as it was the nearest location where the required medical assistance could be promptly provided,” stated an Air India Express spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India Express Emergency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flight initially took off from Dubai at 8:51 AM local time, eventually landing in Karachi <\/a>at 12:30 PM local time. Air India worked closely with both the airport authorities and local agencies to ensure that the distressed passenger received swift medical attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon landing, the Karachi airport doctor administered the necessary medical treatment, and after a thorough medical assessment, the passenger was cleared for onward travel by the airport medical team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India said the flight resumed its journey to Amritsar, departing from Karachi at 2:30 PM local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In August 2023,\u00a0an Air India Express (IX)\u00a0flight from Cochin International Airport (COK) to Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) made an emergency landing back at COK after one of the passengers reported a burning smell inside the cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred on August 2, 2023 (Yesterday), and following this, the airline arranged alternative aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after takeoff, the passenger onboard the Boeing 737<\/a> reported a burning smell. Subsequently, a passenger reported it to the cabin crew, and the flight crew was immediately notified. Forcing the plane to make a precautionary landing at Cochin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight crew decided to land immediately at COK without burning extra fuel. The flight landed safely at COK at 5:37 PM UTC. The aircraft remained airborne for just 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Air India Express engineering team inspected the aircraft on the tarmac but found nothing odd about the plane. The smell can come from leakage of lubricants or fuel inside the engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 737-800, registered as VT-AXQ<\/strong>. Further, it is a 16.3-year-old aircraft; Boeing delivered it to IX in 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline arranged an alternative Boeing 737-800, registered as\u00a0VT-AXJ<\/strong>. The flight took off early at 5:45 AM IST, carrying around 175 passengers to Sharjah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
