FORT WORTH-<\/strong> American Airlines (AA) <\/a>has revealed an Airbus A321<\/a> adorned with the Allegheny Airlines heritage livery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegheny Airlines, a regional carrier that operated from 1952 to 1979 before rebranding to US Airways and eventually merging with American Airlines. Further details are as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Airlines Allegheny Livery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This week, the US-based airline announced that an Airbus <\/a>A321 with registration N579UW <\/strong>emerged from the paint hangar in Amarillo, Texas, bathed in sunlight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft proudly displays the Allegheny Airlines logo on its tail and features a blue stripe running along the fuselage, reminiscent of Allegheny’s original livery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As previously reported, American Airlines (AA) recently expanded its Heritage Jet livery fleet by adding two Airbus A321 aircraft. These planes underwent the repainting process in Amarillo, Texas, and are now back in service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two aircraft join the existing lineup of eight Heritage Jets within the American Airlines fleet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    American Airlines has adorned an Airbus A321-200 with the Allegheny Airlines livery. This specific aircraft is approximately 9.43 years old, having been delivered on May 16, 2014, based on data from ch-aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It boasts a three-class configuration with a seating capacity of 190 passengers, including 135 in Economy Class, 35 in Economy Plus, and 20 in Business Class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Interestingly, this aircraft was originally ordered by US Airways back in 1997. This choice holds historical significance as US Airways is the rebranded version of Allegheny Airlines, which subsequently merged with American Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Allegheny Airlines has a deep-rooted history dating back to 1939 when it was known as the All-American Aviation Company, initially focused on mail delivery. In 1949, it was renamed All American Airways, and in 1953, it assumed the Allegheny Airlines name, reported Simple Flying<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With its headquarters in Pittsburgh, Allegheny operated under this name until October 28, 1979, when it was rebranded as USAir and, later, US Airways. The rebranding was facilitated by the approval of the Airline Deregulation Act, which allowed Allegheny to expand its route network beyond its initial northeastern U.S. base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During its Allegheny Airlines phase, the company operated twin-engine aircraft, including the Convair 340 and the Fairchild F-27. Due to its challenging flights in adverse weather conditions over the mountains of Pennsylvania and other Northeastern states, the airline acquired the nickname “Agony Air,” as reported by the Chicago Tribune in 1994.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
