LONDON-<\/strong> On Monday, October 9, a Kenya Airways (KQ)<\/a> flight from Nairobi (NBO) bound for London Heathrow (LHR)<\/a> had to change its course and reschedule its journey due to a passenger falling ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per a statement released by the national carrier, flight KQ100<\/strong>, scheduled for Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom around 14:19 hours, encountered a medical emergency<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The onboard crew, supported by two medical doctors and a nurse, offered medical assistance to the passenger while the captain declared a medical emergency with Air Traffic Control (ATC) <\/a>to facilitate a swift landing for the passenger to receive further medical care,” stated the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenya Airways reported that the aircraft safely landed at 14:47 hours, and ground paramedics were already in place to receive the passenger and provide immediate medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our top priority is the safety of our crew and passengers,” emphasized the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On October 8, 2023, Flag carrier Air France (AF)<\/a> flight AF328 from Paris (CDG)<\/a> to Ottawa (YOV), Canada<\/a>, declared an emergency and diverted back to CDG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The French carrier operates one daily flight between CDG and YOV. The airline deploys its Airbus A330 aircraft to serve this sector. Further, the exact reason for this diversion is unknown, but we will keep you posted once we have official information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to FlightRadar24, the flight took off at around 11:23 AM UTC, and after being airborne for almost one hour, the flight crew declared an emergency. At the time of emergency, the flight was over the ocean and near the UK\u2019s coastal region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight then turned back toward Paris and landed safely at around 1:10 PM UTC, almost two hours later from its departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight is operated by Airbus A330-200, having registration F-GZCG. Further, it is a 21-year-old aircraft and is powered by two GE engines. By looking at the data from FR24, it looks like a medical emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
