DUBLIN-<\/strong> The flag carrier of the Netherlands, KLM Airlines (KL)<\/a>, flight KL611 from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)<\/a> to Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD)<\/a>, diverted to Dublin (DUB),<\/a> Ireland, possibly due to a medical emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dutch airline operates one daily flight between AMS and ORD. Further, it deploys its state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner<\/a> aircraft to serve its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KLM Amsterdam to Chicago Flight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to FlightRadar24 (FR24), the KLM flight KL611 <\/strong>took off from Amsterdam at 10:47 AM UTC. After being airborne for more than one hour at 12:02 PM UTC, the flight started lowering its altitude from FL340.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight crew contacted Dublin ATC and decided to divert to DUB. It landed safely in Dublin at around 12:39 PM UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight is operated by Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, registered as PH-BKL. Further, it is just a year and three months of aircraft. Further, GEnx powers it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It looks like the flight will take off again shortly for its arrival to Chicago. We will keep you posted once we have more information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similar Incident<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in September 2023, two passenger flights <\/a>had to change their course to Shannon Airport (SNN), Ireland<\/a>, due to medical emergencies declared by their flight crews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first incident involved Air Transat flight TS-2122, which was en route from Toronto (YYZ), Canada<\/a>, to Gatwick Airport (LGW)<\/a> in England. The Airbus <\/a>A330-300 aircraft carried 314 passengers and crew members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Ambulance Service received a notification and dispatched resources to the airport in preparation for the flight\u2019s arrival. The plane landed at 10:02 a.m., reported the Irish Independent<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is unclear how many individuals were transported to University Hospital Limerick for medical treatment, it is understood that the flight crew requested medical assistance for two individuals. The flight was able to resume its journey to Gatwick Airport at 11:20 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, a second transatlantic flight was also diverted to Shannon Airport due to a declared medical emergency by the crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
