This expansion will also include launching a new route connecting Bucharest to Leipzig and increasing flight frequencies on 21 existing routes to the Romanian capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"686\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-110.png\" alt=\"Wizz Air (W6), which is already the leading airline in Romania in terms of the number of passengers transported, has unveiled plans to expand its operations in the country further.\" class=\"wp-image-44440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-110.png 1024w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-110-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-110-768x515.png 768w, https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-110-750x502.png 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo:  Aero Icarus | Flickr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wizz-air-new-base\">Wizz Air New Base<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result of this investment, the airline will station 19 aircraft and employ 800 personnel at its Bucharest base, solidifying its position as Wizz Air&#8217;s largest hub. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This move reinforces the company&#8217;s dominant market presence in Romania, which currently holds a market share of approximately 54%, set to increase to 57%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting from June 4, 2024, the new Bucharest-Leipzig flights will operate thrice a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this recent expansion, Wizz Air is set to station 36 aircraft in Romania by 2024, distributed across its six bases in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Ia\u0219i, Sibiu, and Timi\u0219oara. This extensive network will encompass 171 routes connecting 79 destinations across 24 different countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wizz Air operates its flights utilizing various aircraft models, including the 180-seat Airbus A320, the 230-seat A321, the 186-seat A320neo, and the 239-seat <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Airbus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Airbus <\/a>A321neo. Notably, the airline maintains one of the world&#8217;s youngest fleets, with an average aircraft age of merely 4.2 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s worth mentioning that approximately a month ago, Wizz Air announced the closure of its base in Suceava, located in northeastern Romania, effective from October 28, 2023. Nonetheless, the airline will continue to serve five routes from Suceava while relocating five other flights to the Ia\u0219i airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stay tuned with us.
