BEIJING-<\/strong> China Eastern Airlines (MU)<\/a> has signed a deal with the aircraft manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to buy 100 new C919 Aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Eastern’s latest order marks a significant milestone for the Chinese passenger aircraft designed by COMAC to compete with Airbus<\/a> SE’s A320neo and Boeing<\/a> Co’s 737 MAX single-aisle jet families. It stands as the largest order for this domestic aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Eastern Leads C919 Adoption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Shanghai-based airline China Eastern has become the first and most prominent user of the C919 aircraft. They already acquired five of these C919 aircraft, with three already in their possession. The remaining two are scheduled for delivery later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, GallopAir, a fledgling Brunei-based airline, recently announced its intention to invest $2 billion in the Chinese aviation market. This substantial deal involves the procurement of 30 aircraft from China<\/a>, split evenly between COMAC’s<\/a> ARJ21 and the C919 models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China Eastern’s new C919 aircraft order will be fulfilled in stages from 2024 to 2031. In 2024, they expect delivery of 5 aircraft, followed by an annual delivery of 10 aircraft each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, from 2028 to 2030, the airline expects to receive 15 C919s annually, with the final batch of 20 jets slated for delivery in 2031.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thursday announcement did not disclose the exact financial details of the deal. However, it’s worth noting that China Eastern had previously revealed that the list price for each aircraft is $99 million. China Eastern Airlines buys 100 such C919 aircraft, which totals the amount to $9.9 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
