MUMBAI-<\/strong> Air India (AI)<\/a>, a Tata Group-owned prominent Indian carrier, has forged a codeshare partnership with AIX Connect<\/a>, formerly known as Air Asia India (I5). As part of this agreement, Air India will assign its ‘AI’ designator code to more than 100 daily flights operated by AIX Connect along 21 routes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional routes will be gradually incorporated into the codeshare agreement. Reservations for these codeshare flights are available at various points of sale, with travel commencing on September 27, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air India and AIX Connect Codeshare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This codeshare arrangement enhances the travel experience for Air India passengers, facilitating seamless connections across AIX Connect’s route network to and from more than 80 destinations<\/strong> accessible through Air India’s extensive domestic and international services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the agreement, passengers can receive boarding passes at their initial departure point for all travel segments on a single ticket, with the convenience of having their baggage checked through to their final destinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers connecting from international to domestic flights will, however, need to comply with customs regulations at the first entry point in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AIX Connect will honor the free baggage allowance specified on tickets issued by Air India. Further, the Air India passengers connecting to AIX Connect flights will also enjoy complimentary in-flight meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Routes, Better Opportunity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With the implementation of this codeshare pact, Air India has expanded its domestic route network to include four additional Indian destinations: Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, and Surat, in addition to shared destinations within both airlines’ networks. Passengers originating from these cities will now have the opportunity to access Air India’s extensive international network via Delhi <\/a>and Mumbai <\/a>hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This codeshare agreement also empowers AIX Connect to tap into Air India’s global distribution network, accessible through the airline’s direct channels and global network of travel agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s worth noting that AIX Connect is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India and is currently integrating with Air India Express, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India, with the goal of forming a unified low-cost carrier within the Tata Group’s aviation business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
