ATLANTA-<\/strong> Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> has officially announced the cancellation of its route from Portland (PDX) to Tokyo Haneda (HND)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HND slot will now be returned to the allocation pool, allowing other U.S. carriers to apply for it. Subsequently, United Airlines (UA)<\/a> has expressed interest in launching a route from HND to Guam (GUM)\/Houston (IAH), reports Ishrion Aviation<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Cancels Portland-Tokyo Flights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Delta’s route from Portland (PDX) to Seoul (ICN), originally scheduled to begin at the end of March 2024, has been removed from sale for most days. Currently, only business class fares remain available on a limited number of days, and it is unclear if this indicates a cancellation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZIPAIR Tokyo (ZG), a low-cost carrier established by Japan Airlines (JL)<\/a>, is considering Honolulu, Hawaii, and Portland in the United States as top candidates for service after meeting international standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Delta discontinuing the PDX-Tokyo route, this could potentially open the way for ZIPAIR to operate on this route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Flights to Paris<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Exciting news for Cincinnati (CVG) as Delta Air Lines is set to increase the frequency of its Paris (CDG)<\/a> route from 3x weekly to 7x weekly starting in May 2024. Further, this will restore the route to its pre-COVID frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to British Airways’ (BA) London (LHR) flight, CVG will now have significantly more transatlantic capacity compared to 2019 levels, representing an approximately 80% increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta’s plans for Summer 2024 include the continued use of the Boeing <\/a>767-400 aircraft on the CVG-CDG route, an upgrade from the 767-300 used in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stay tuned for more updates on other route increases for 2024. This includes an increase in frequency from Atlanta (ATL)<\/a> to Paris (CDG) from 18x to 21x weekly. Subsequently, an increase in Boston (BOS) to Athens (ATH) to 7x weekly, up from 4x in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
