BOSTON-<\/strong> An incident occurred at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)<\/a> on September 16, where an American Airlines (AA)<\/a> Airbus A319<\/a>, while being towed for parking, collided with an unoccupied pickup truck. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) <\/a>reported that the aircraft’s #2 engine sustained damage during the incident. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the aircraft was subsequently taken out of service for a thorough inspection and necessary repairs, according to an American Airlines spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American A319 Hits Truck at Boston<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As reported by Boston 25 News<\/em>, the incident involving the A319 occurred at approximately 9:45 PM on a Saturday when the aircraft was being towed and maneuvered into overnight parking at a cargo hangar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ground personnel were responsible for moving the plane, and it inadvertently made contact with a parked pickup truck. Consequently, one of the engines on the aircraft sustained damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FAA is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Although American Airlines has not disclosed specific details about the affected A319, flight data from that day suggests that the aircraft with registration N820AW may be the one involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Flightradar24<\/em>, this particular jet operated flight AA2145 from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)<\/a> to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on the day of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight departed from DCA at around 3:00 PM and arrived at BOS at 4:32 PM. The flight data indicates that the aircraft did not undertake any further flights until the following day, in the afternoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

N820AW was scheduled to operate AA2122 back to DCA on Sunday but experienced a delay of over four hours. Initially set to depart at 8:30 AM, the flight eventually took off at 12:56 PM, according to FlightRadar24.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although American Airlines has not officially confirmed that N820AW was the aircraft involved in the collision with the pickup truck, the aircraft’s extended stay at BOS suggests that any damages incurred might have been minor, necessitating minor repairs before returning to service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday evening (August 26, 2023), a United Airlines (UA)<\/a> Boeing 737 was positioned at gate M37 within Terminal 5 of Chicago<\/a> O\u2019Hare Airport (ORD) following its flight from Punta Cana (PUJ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this stationary phase, an American Airlines (AA)<\/a> luggage cart collided with the front right section of the United 737 aircraft. Images captured post-incident reveal a significant puncture located above the landing gear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft involved in the incident is United Boeing <\/a>737-900ER, registered as N75425. According to Planespotters.net<\/em>, it is a 15.2-year-old aircraft and was delivered to Continental Airlines in 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

United 737 was at gate M37 after completing its scheduled flight as UA1664. The flight took from Punta Cana (PUJ) at 3:05 P.m. with more than one hour delay. After being airborne for almost four hours and 20 minutes, it landed safely at Chicago O\u2019Hare (ORD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slightly blurry security footage captures the occurrence, depicting the cart directly impacting the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This incident appears rather peculiar; while I lack insight into the circumstances behind the wheel, it does appear that the driver should have had sufficient time to notice the airplane and avert the collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
