Leading the owner to release it and place it on her lap in an attempt to soothe the animal.

Some of the other passengers on the plane did not receive this well and asked the cabin crew to intervene. When the dog owner did not put the dog back inside its carrier after repeated requests, the airline filed a police complaint upon landing in Goa.

Akasa Air issued a statement, which stated,

“An occurrence involving a pet owner took place aboard flight QP1378, which was en route from Delhi to Goa on September 9, 2023. While the flight was in progress, the passenger refused to adhere to the established safety guidelines by frequently taking their pet out of its enclosure. This conduct presented a potential safety hazard and disrupted fellow passengers and crew members.”

<img decoding="async" src="https://aviationa2z.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/22287967359_f85993376a_c.jpg" alt="GOA- Akasa Air (QP), India's youngest and greenest airline, submitted a police report against a passenger who broke the regulations by releasing her pet dog from its carrier on a recent flight. It introduced the option for passengers to travel with their pets shortly after its launch last year. However, like other airlines, it has established specific guidelines for travelers accompanied by pets.

The airline permits domestic dogs and cats to accompany passengers, with their ability to travel either in the cabin or the cargo hold according to their size.

In accordance with regulations, Akasa Air permits animals weighing up to 7kg (15 pounds) to join passengers in the cabin.

Animals weighing between 7kg and 32kg (15-70 pounds) must be checked in at the airport. Heavier animals weighing up to 100 kg (220 pounds) must be checked in at the cargo terminal.

On its official website, Akasa Air specifies that the container dimensions for cabin travel should not exceed 19” x 12” x 10”

Stay tuned with us.
